Over 775 locations surveyed to date
Abbey has over 700 branches throughout the UK in addition to several offices.
Crossways has conducted an asbestos survey for each of selected Abbey
properties to determine the presence or absence of the types of asbestos
product which pose risk to employees or customers. The aim of the exercise is
to reassure staff if there was none present and, if traces were discovered,
to manage and control asbestos exposure in order to avoid any such risk.
Reports have been presented using ENVACS database systems. These reports
became the basis for future asbestos management procedures and formed part of
the client's register in compliance with The Control of Asbestos at Work
Regulations 2002.
For two of the branches surveyed, Chester-le-Street and Derby, Crossways were
appointed for project management to carry out the recommendations of the
reports.
In a separate commission, the client's consultant, E.C.Harris, instructed
contractors to contact Crossways to survey various properties prior to
alterations and refurbishment.
Since the initial rolling programme of asbestos surveys and the change of
ownership, Crossways has been very involved with further branch and property
surveys, survey re-visits and project management.
All details of asbestos activities are held on the database in Crossways
offices. Any information required by Abbey or their authorised contractors is
readily available and accessible.
Work is ongoing.
