Asbestos Management Services - Marks and Spencer Case Study

Asbestos Survey and Asbestos Management

Crossways Environmental Services was successful in being awarded the contract for conducting asbestos surveys for all the Marks and Spencer stores, including the Head Office buildings, to determine the presence and condition of asbestos containing materials (ACMs).

Marks and Spencer Marble Arch Store This contract is currently on-going.

As there are about 300 properties involved, a detailed programme was carefully produced and agreed. Crossways steadily work through this programme in co-operation with Gleeds, the clients appointed surveyor.

We produce reports for all stores, office buildings and distribution depots and these are stored (in high security conditions) at our offices on behalf of Marks and Spencer Plc. Held both electronically and in paper form, information from these reports is readily available to authorised personnel, contractors and sub-contractors. We manage and control this register. All activities regarding asbestos in each building are recorded and the reports are updated immediately so that the current situation is available to all authorised users.

These reports are stored in the ENVACS database system, which is designed to comply with The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002.

Authorised contractors involved with asbestos remedial or removal works, maintenance or refurbishment works have access to the up-to-date information at all times. All they have to do is contact Crossways Environmental Services and a report can be downloaded, produced on disk or in print. The Client's project managers and design teams also have the same access.
